For the last two years, Dr. Vignetti -Director of the Data Center and Clinical Trials Office of the GIMEMA Foundation (Italian Group for Hematological Diseases in Adults) and physician of the Hematology Department of University Sapienza of Rome- has been using on his desktop computer, the digital clinical case history streamlined by the Italian company Sinaptica IT, ClinicOnline® .
In addition, during the last few months he has successfully tested one of the features that ClinicOnline® does offer to customers: the use of a case history with freedom of mobility. He has been able to access patients' data through an iPhone no matter where he was, consulting case histories with the same interface as on his PC but tuned to be user-friendly on an Apple smartphone as well. Even being away from his computer he has been able to check in real time, each patient’s therapy, their clinical histories and tests done and has also been able to update data without needing to go back to a fixed workstation. A solution that has helped to make his job more efficient as well as in contributed to an efficient coordination of activities between colleagues and of appointments planning.
ClinicOnline® enables to access data with freedom of mobility thanks to its web application characteristics, and that is to be used via internet through a common web browser as Internet Explorer, Firefox, Google Chrome, or, in this case, Safari, which is part of iPhone supplied software. Indeed, ClinicOnline® has been enhanced with a high compatibility to standards that make it usable with any tool having a web browser, without needing any dedicated software: a desktop computer, a laptop, a netbook, a palm pc, a smartphone or an ultra mobile PC. It is, in fact, one of the main features that allows you to use it straightforward with most modern telecommunication field devices, as the iPhone; it is even compatible with devices that do only have a wifi connection, as the Apple iPod touch. Thanks to ClinicOnline® clinical case histories are no longer tied to a fixed workstation but can follow the physician wherever he may go. A solution that meets not only the needs of a most up-to-date medical environment but one that also provides a highly efficient performance in all those situations in which mobility is a must, as for example, home healthcare assistance or in case of a natural disaster.
Together with the iPhone, ClinicOnline® is an extremely user friendly innovative working tool: with this solution, the digital clinical case history becomes mobile and pocket size. From the point of view of a healthcare professional, which operational prospects does the possibility of accessing, in real time, own patients’ clinical case histories offer? The video-interview released by Dr. Vignetti, a well-known physician with a huge experience in clinical practice, offers a usability evidence of the mobile clinical case history using an iPhone and ClinicOnline®. The interview items tend to point out the system usability highlights within the healthcare field, its impact on healthcare centers in terms of efficacy, efficiency and economical services and new prospects for team work.
